A heritage home with a modern touch and a backyard oasis
Our team worked on this completed project from start to finish. We were heavily involved in the town planning and design and planning aspects for this remodel, which resulted in breathtaking results including a family-friendly backyard and functional living space.
The challenge
The property had many constraints for additions and alterations, including a heritage overlay. The façade of the dwelling also had to remain intact, so any design response would need to take this into consideration.
The client required a complete remodel of the entire interior, which included creating more space on the first floor to cater for their growing family. The first floor additions had to be crafted within the strict guidelines for heritage-listed homes while still ensuring a modern and aesthetically pleasing design response.
The brief also allowed for a large external entertaining area which encompassed landscaped gardens by renown Australian gardener and landscape designer Paul Bangay, a terrace area, swimming pool and bbq areas.
The solution
Our involvement was to manage the entire process from acquiring permits, managing interior design, and dealing with all the relevant stakeholders, such as neighbours and council to negotiate an outcome our client would be satisfied with.
